Service-based scholarship opportunities

One of the nation’s largest service-based scholarship programs, the Sam H. Jones program was created in 1994 and has awarded more than $1.7 million to more than 890 students.

Paw's Pantry Scholars coordinate a campus food bank that provides food assistance to those experiencing food insecurity.
Scholars assist in planning and leading groups during several campuswide Days of Service, including the Day of Caring.
Community Service Leaders spend time planning campuswide Days of Service and mentoring for other Sam H. Jones programs.
Alternative Break Program Scholars plan and lead service trips within the United States.
ServiceCorps Scholars spend time planning monthly Jags in the Streets events.
Each fall, several scholar groups spend a weekend getting to know one another, expanding their minds on what service means, and completing a service project!

The Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program recognizes what you’ve already accomplished—it’s awarded based on exemplary service in the community, in your high school, or at IU Indianapolis, but it’s really focused on what you’re going to do next.

The many Sam H. Jones scholarships not only offer financial awards but also a variety of components to help you grow as a student, community member, and leader. Scholarships include:
