- Description:
- Brightwood Community Center’s (BWCC) mission is to transform lives by enhancing spiritual, educational and physical growth. We fulfill our mission by providing multiple programs for low-income families, children, young adults, teens, unemployed/under employed persons, returning citizens, and our beloved seniors. We serve the Martindale-Brightwood, Oxford, Hillside, and Forest Manor neighborhoods, to include the greater Indianapolis community. The communities are plagued with violent crime, poverty, poor education habits, dilapidated and abandoned houses, physical and mental health issues, food desert and unemployment. BWCC provides an afterschool literacy program, food pantry, summer youth camp, Parent R.E.T.R.E.A.T. program, Healing Circles and neighborhood CORE services to meet community needs. Volunteers needs include: Food Pantry shoppers, Summer Camp Field Trip Chaperones, and Neighborhood Canvassing. Dates and times are 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month from 2-4pm, 2nd & 4th Tuesday each month for food pantry prep 12-2pm, and Summer Camp 8am-4:30pm Monday - Friday.
