- Description:
- HOPE is based out of IU Bloomington. Our task is to recruit undergraduate students at IU campuses to serve as mentors for peer incarcerated youth. Students will be paired with peer incarcerated youth (ages 14-18) at 1 of 3 youth community correction facilities in Indiana (Pendleton, Logansport, or La Porte). Students will meet with their mentee for one hour each week. Opportunities for consistent virtual meetings are increasing. Students will help mentor and guide mentees in understanding and traversing normal everyday life when they are released back to the community. This is approximately a one-year long commitment. An especially insightful opportunity for any undergraduates majoring in criminal justice, social work, education, and psychology.
